Dancing on the Edge of a Razor

Have you checked out that new Gillette commercial?

I'm pretty sure y'all know which one.. the one that calls out toxic male syndrome.

If you really love women, you shouldn't have a problem with the message of that commercial. Apparently, that isn't the case with some guys who are burning their razors as a means of protest. Gillette has joined the pyre built from Kappernick jersies, and Kuerig coffee machines and any other product that has called men out for having fragile egos.

I understand that there are some psycho feminists out there that want every single man to apologize to them for simply having a penis. This Gillette ad doesn't speak for them.

I think that ad speaks to us as men that doesn't strip us of a single thing, except to treat women better. Some of you guys that are pissed off about women being flakes and fakes might get a little further on this site if you actually spoke to a woman on an even level. You can call me any name you like, but you're the one striking out every single time, not me.

I don't understand the need to lash out in that way. If you're not behaving this way, then what's with the anger???

If you think Gillette just needs to stick to selling razors.. i think you're right. I just can't wait for Budweiser to do the same thing.

So wait, the gist of the ad is that men should treat women better and some men are getting ticked off about it? Because.....? I'm so out of it.

I watched the ad. I think it's actually in line with what their slogan is, they've just changed it a bit. It' not aimed at bashing men, either. It's goal is to encourage men...all men...to be the best person they can be. If that means stopping bad behavior toward women (or anyone else), then then that's what should happen. It's not asking men to get in touch with their feminine side. It's just telling them to be the best they can be.

Hmmmm....I know I left that wand around here somewhere!

I saw the ad on You Tube and read the mission statement posted to thebestmencanbe.org .
In my opinion the company is being intentionally vague so it's no surprise people are reading what they want into it (the ad campaign).
Donating one million a year for three years? It doesn't sound like enough to me, for whatever it is they are trying to do.
Why don't they concentrate first on avoiding testing on animals (check PETA's guide, their products are *not* cruelty-free), rather than trying to deal with divisive and complex issues that really have nothing to do with their company's products?

I haven't read up on what the animal testing policy is from Gillette, but that's a whole other topic and digression.. lol

I think Gillette is being kind of pompous in creating and airing the commercial. I don't think it will help them to sell their razors, and isn't that the ultimate goal?

PS: I've seen women's razor commercials that, as a woman, I found offensive - there was one where the razor was actually shaped like a woman's body (to fit her hand better).
