mojo, I don't think where they play has a factor in the case... Sure they might have an advantage, but that is with all teams... Even if LSU played someplace else other than N.O., THEY STILL WOULD HAVE WON.... You also have to realize, that this year, LSU will be loosing 25 of there players due to them graduating, so I feel the whole team just wanted to play there hearts out for the ones leaving, so they have something to look back on... They played hard all year long, and DESERVE all the credit...., and no matter where they would have played the LSU FANS, would have been there....

You are A ok in that dept, for sure, as you are in every other dept ! LOL

I have to agree and disagree at the same time....What happened to Ohio State last year?.....I may be wrong but Florida spanked their asses in The Fiesta Bowl...AZ is not in either of their backyards....I'm a Buckeye fan from years back....But my team is in the SEC.....THE BEST DAMN CONFERENCE IN FOOTBALL!!!!....They are 0-9 against SEC teams in Bowl Games......and you are right....the BCS sux....they need to have a playoff system of some kind so that the best team may win...

I agree with the both of you. I hate the big10 and particularly hate Ohio St.. They rate just below Miami of Florida in my book. You are spot on with last year's Fiesta bowl. Dah, I was thinking Notre Dame playing LSU, playing may not have been the appropriate word to use, LOL. They played in front of the LSU crowd and from the get go the yellow hankies made life too difficult. The game was over after the middle of the 1st quarter.
The thing that gets me though is this 'home team' advantage that should be avoided at all costs. I believe that the championship game is pre-determined to be played at a specific location, and sometimes this is fine. But what happens if an LSU ends up playing in New Orleans, or Texas in the Cotton Bowl, or Miami of Florida in the Orange bowl? Poor old Hawaii had to travel pretty far to play Georgia, and I believe that game may have been played in georgia, I may be wrong on that one. Are you following me ? Lets get the teams set first, then determine where they will play and at that time determine which bowl game is the championship game.
I am still hoping for a playoff, and from the sounds of it, it maybe a real possibility sooner than most od us think !
ESPN radio said earlier that all of the major conferences are for an 8 team playoff. 2 conferences were against it. The one's against it are the big 10 and the Pac10. Maybe they will come around but hey this is encouraging !
Think about the old excuses they used to use like they didn't want the season extended ! Thats BS, as it is most teams sit for 6 weeks before finishing the season !

Yeah, give me a 'P', give me an 'I', give me an 'N', give me a 'K'. Whats that spell, PINK !, yeah, jiggle for me baby, lol.
Although I would much prefer you playing center to me (quarterback), probably get me killed come to think about it, never mind. Trying to take the snap could be a real problem. Having my hands on your ass as you were squatting in front of me, yeah. I am afraid my concentration on the football game would be negatively effected.

I agree that LSU deserved it and probably would have won no matter where...The radio announcers last night (Iwas on the road) said that the tickets were divided 60/40 in LSU's favor for last nights game. On the road they may have been divided differently ?
I am not trying to steal any thunder from LSU, they played a tougher schedule, by far, than OSU did. If OSU had played their schedule, they never would have been invited to play in that game, I have no doubt !
Both of LSU's losses were to very god teams and both were overtime losses, and they had some starters missing during the losses.
I'd still like to see the teams play on a level field, thats all.
We all know what a little mojo inspired from a great crowd can do. Many times it even effects a referee's grip on the yellow hankie, lol.

To deviate a little bit. A few weeks ago the Bears were playing in Minnesota. There were several calls that the crowd directly influenced. A pass interference against the Vikes, was picked up after the home crowd booed. A catch by a Bear receiver was ruled a catch but when the crowd and coach got in the refs face, the pass was ruled null and void, without a replay. The Viking qb was hit by 2 Bear defenders just as he crossed the sidelines and a flag was dropped for a late hit out of bounds (un-nec roughness) the play extended the half and put Minn in FG range where they made the kick, and there were a couple 'no-calls' against the vike defense, sorry for straying off point but just trying to illustrate what effect a crowd can have on a team and on the officiating. Not that any of this mattered last night. LSU came into the game as one of the most penalized teams in the nation and OSU came in as one of the least but OSU had 5 personal fouls to zero for LSU, at one point in the game, just sayin...

You have to take into consideration that neither team was invited to play in the championship game....they played...they lost ..they won and all those wacky sports writers and coaches all across the country voted for them on a weekly basis...therefore they ended up where they did....the BCS Championship rotates thru the (i think 5 major bowls) Cotton..Sugar..Fiesta..Rose..Orange...it was just LSU's luck that they got voted into the game this year.....go back a couple years....where did Texas kick ass and win a national championship.....if my memory serves me correctly The Rose Bowl and they beat Southern Cal..not USC....there is only one USC and that would be THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA...anyway Southern Cal got their ass spanked not only in their own backyard but in the stadium where they play 99% of their games...so it really doesn't matter where they play.....the best time always wins....as far as Hawaii..they played in the Sugar Bowl in NO...not in Georgia..

The Texas thing was way back in the 70's but with the current BCS configuration it makes it a real possibility, that was my only point.
Its possible that any number of teams could end up in a 'home' game for the BCS championship. I don't know who is scheduled for the next BCS final, but Texas, USC, Arizona,Arizona State,(okay, they may have a great season, you never know), Miami, Fla St or Florida, LSU , just saying, get the match-ups , #1 vs: #2, etc, then decide where the game played.

As an example. Lets say Georgia and So. Cal end up 1 and 2 in next years BCS standings. If that championship is to be played at the Rose Bowl, you have an unfair advantage in favor of USC. I believe that they play in that stadium during the reg season. You can divide the tickets 50/50 but even then USC's familiarity with their 'home field' would be a huge advantage. Ya think ?

Okay Lone, you make some valid points, But I said that I wasn't sure where The Hawaii/ Georgia game was played, I knew it was in the south. Hawaii would have had to travel 1000's of miles regardless of where they played, so that was a mute point. This year the bowl picture was screwy and I couldn't get into it much. A playoff has to set up soon or go back to the old way that they use to use for deciding the championship. Right now it flat out sucks.

I agree with you 100%...Hope some day soon that it all gets work out and maybe they should find a state in the center of the USA that has no major school and have the Champsionship game there every year...

Yeah, As much as I like Lou Holtz I think S. Spurrier is a perfect fit for SC.
That conference is so friggin tough, but I am thinking that within 2-3 years South Carolina is going to be in the title hunt, maybe even a nat'l championship, heck maybe next year if the ball bounces right ?

Lonelet me correct you on a couple of things you have stated above. First you are totally correct when you said Texas beat USC but they didn't kick there Ass. Secondly USC does not play at the Rose bowl Thats UCLA so its not a home field for them. Home crowd favorite I would agree with.

Now the BSC sucks the way things are done. I'm in agreement with everyone that a playoff is the best way to go here.

Yeah the BCS has certainly screwed things up, for sure.
I am on the same page as Lone on this one. I belive that USC, okay Lone, Southern Cal, plays some of its home games at the rose bowl.
They used to play them all there years ago.

I can never understand there thinking in collage sports and how they rank.

They should rank on standings in each division.

Your all mistaken here about where USC (Southern Cal) played or plays there games. They play all there home games at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The only time they play in the Rose Bowl is on Jan 1.

I think that you will find that the Rose Bowl is not the home field of either UCLA or So. Cal. during the regular season since it's in Pasadena, Ca., and both UCLA and So. Cal. are located in Los Angeles, home of the Los Angeles Colosseum.
